Destiny Update

Destiny is not a candidate for surgery as we had hoped. With the trauma damage to her leg, the DVM doesn't feel she has a good chance with surgery for her stringhalt.  Another horse was found shortly before Destiny deceased in the woods with a rope tied around the same leg, to a tree, in the same area.  We can only assume the same person did this to Destiny, but she escaped, most likely causing the trauma that was visible to that leg. Destiny was the first USERL KY horse and she will proudly remain in the USERL KY family permanently.  She is our mascot of what it is we stand for as volunteers, and horses we will help do all we can for.  Destiny is a special horse to the USERL KY family.  Please read her story below. 

(Destiny "now" months later)

 

Destiny's story begins on a dark, lonely cool night.  Destiny was confused and scared after being at an auction, apparently not selling and then being dumped by her irresponsible owner.  The glue still fresh on her from the auction sticker, a man driving grazed her with his vehicle and promptly called the Sheriff. Luckily the man, and Destiny were alright.  A very nice couple (who are now part of USERL KY - we're happy to say!) were called and went out to get her and bring her into their hearts and home.  Soon thereafter we were contacted by these folks to take Destiny.   The nice couple has nursed her back to good health as you can see from the picture, a far cry from the skin and bones she was. Destiny loves life, loves being on the pasture and running (as you can see in the next picture on this page - taken days after her arrival) and just being around people.  When you donate, you donate "life", you donate a "chance", you donate a "future".  USERL cannot save these horses without your help. Together we can bring "hope" to so many horses, just like Destiny.
